Do the things that worth for you to do!
Second day is where we come back to the root cause that we have the stated on a piece of paper yesterday. As we all assume that Education System is the one that need to be blamed for the cause of why student/youth nowadays are lacking of their leadership skill to lead a better country in next decade in the context of Malaysia. .
iM4U WORKSHOP: SECOND DAY
To find out more about this topic, instead of going google or having another round of discussion in the small and narrow room. We have been given the chance to go anywhere on the location that is reachable by public transport. However, it turns out all of us departs from Taylor’s University to KLCC Twin Tower area.
As we are required to interview people within 3 hours, therefore without wasting time we directly ask people that are sitting inside the LRT. I have the chance to meet up with 2 different background students within 10 minutes for short session conversation.
As a Malaysian university student, she thinks that education still need to be improved in terms of the exposure toward the global perspective. There is a need to meet up with different people from different culture and background. Personally she doesn’t think that she has the chance to pursue a leadership opportunity before due to the workload that she has on her plate. She has to study and handle her part time job.
Meanwhile from the perspective of an international student who has just come to Malaysia for study purpose, he has a belief that his country education system is much worse compare to Malaysia. He still new to the environment that he is in right now and not much mingle with the local Malaysia when we are asking on how he thinks about Malaysian youth. And therefore, not much information are able to be taken note on.
Sooner we have reached the KLCC station, we have decided to separate our team into few groups to conduct own interview session. It just naturally approach people and ask few questions that they might yet think before.
Outside Suria KLCC which is exactly in the park area where people used to play water, morning exercise and family gathering. In this location, I have met few people and below are the brief points about the whole conversation..
As an International people move to Malaysia for a living due to the job required, he express himself that education in Malaysia really need to be improve in terms of competitiveness level. He introduces himself as having a managerial position in one of the Malaysia companies and has a terrible image perceived toward his daughter international school. “I have no problem with the massive holiday that Malaysia has, but it doesn’t mean that the teacher can have an early leave few days before the official holiday has been started. This kind of behavior has led to the incompleteness in having the 100% syllabus“
A youth in Malaysia, who has just started his own start-up has the same view regard Malaysia education system. He thinks that youth still need to be more open-minded and highly valued the networking opportunity with international people. To add on, he has gone through a leadership position before as a president in a scout organization during his university life.
Didn’t forget about the little girl that is still a student, she thinks that her teacher has done her best in conducting an interactive and conducive way of learning environment. She has nothing to complaint or critic toward the education system nowadays. But then it turns out to the question of, is that because that she has yet being exposed to the other school learning and therefore she has nothing to compare with and set her own school experience as own basic standard? This is something to contemplate on before answering the questions.
Overall, it is a good experience! As it remark my first time in interviewing a stranger on who you have never talk to them before. Challenges that I have met will be the language that they spoke to.
Tick Tok Tick Tok.. Time has flies and we are required to go back to Taylor’s University!
We are having much fun in doing the unexpected activity and I believe that everyone has their memorable story to be kept for. We are having debrief on what we have learnt so far and here are few words:
Don’t Assume. Understand. Sometimes we tend to judge something very fast, without even considering the reason behind it. Therefore, try to emphasize and put ourselves in the shoes of others
It is not about what you know, but what others perceived too. We have to validate our conclusion before finalized it, sometimes what we think might not be the truth and might not be the same with what others think.
