Maybank Go Ahead Challenge 2015!

"Great belief will lead you to the great attitude and action.”

This is a very challenging mission for me personally, due to the field of study that I am in. But again, here goes to the story of one day that full of Challenge!

A team of 6 people had formed to kick start the challenge that takes place in Sunway University!

The first mission can be considered as the warm-up session where each team member had to complete 6 different kind of quick games on different station. All the games need player to work as a team, such as: climbing, eating, running, blowing, feeding, drinking and shooting. Without forgetting that everyone in the team need to take turn in wearing an air balloon sumo suit when moved from one station to another station.

*You can imagine how the games are being played through below picture!

After completing the games, we come back to the hall where we proceeded the second mission! Meanwhile, there is announcement regard the result of each team from the previous mission. We found out that we were in the last rank out of all the team group. Feeling down and disappointed as we have really try our best to participate on each game, though majority of them are failed.

Moving on to the next mission, we are required to read up a thick material of the case study where we are being positioned as the villager in a war period and required to trade the available raw material that we have in between village. The purpose is to gain the sufficient water to nurture those all materials.  Basically we are having a smooth transition during the process and managed to gain around few set of water successfully as on what we have planned initially. However, we are having a hard time to allocate the given water to the current animal and material that we have for farmed usage and didn’t manage to fill up the form on time.

After the trading session has been finished, we are moving to our third mission, whereby every 5 teams will be isolated in one room that consists of the assessor itself. Before we even start, there is a guy assessor suddenly remind us with the elimination procedure whereby the group that has the lowest rank will be eliminated on every session. And out of all the 5 team in here, only 1 team are able to survive to the fourth mission by choosing the team that gain the most money. I have a feeling that being eliminated before proceed to the next session. By having this kind of belief that start to adjust my attitude from enthusiasm to the lowest spirit that I can be.

Moreover, as I think there won’t be much different if I keep myself active on the condition where our group has a zero number of amount for all the raw material and left few kilograms grain of rice (*due to the zero water allocation in the last mission). This mission looks like the round table discussion where all of the team are required to come out with the exchange tool as a symbol of transaction in daily basis.  A great argument, agreement and disagreement during the session will make me surprised on everyone effort to gain the personal interest.

Below are the roughly discussion that we have through the almost 2 hour time:

Some of the group agree to have certain system that ruled the exchange policy in between the group. Therefore, at the end we have come out with our own new rule whereby everyone can voice out the standardize price to have a daily transaction system (Plan B). Some argue that this system wouldn’t make sense if setting up on this way. The other think that it wouldn’t make sense too, if we use the available material within the community as the symbol of money (Plan A): such as: precious with few amount of copper as an exchange tool. This is because those who are having much more copper will be the richer compare to those who are having the much more amount on the other material. And it will be unfair to the rest! Basically there are 2 main points that has been argued and at the end we choose the plan B instead of A.

Representative of the Maybank comes into our discussion and suddenly voice out with the analogy of, “I am wasting my time to come here and conduct this challenge for all of you? This is very ridiculous.  “If based on you all discussion result, is it mean that if we didn’t like certain policy then we can change it without concern of any law as its foundation? Basically this is what you guys have done to the entire exchange system. Did you realized that?”

Basically the message that he want to say is that, “we must stood up on our own point of view if we really believe on it (he agree with the Plan A that is the right way to be the exchange system)“ and “when we do something, we must based on the data that they had given to us, not to create again by ourselves”

After that, we are having lunch and break for one hour and come back to hear the announcement. Well, it is basically marks the end of my journey throughout this year competition! It is really tiring, but I do gain some friends from different universities and learn a lot from the other participant!

I am proud of those are managed to get through the next stage due to the activeness of their participation throughout the session and there is nothing much related with the number that we have gained at all! Their spirit is all that matters!

“It’s all about how much effort that you have put on it on the process, not the end result”

“Number will intimidate you, however don’t let it be”

“regret always come to the things that you have yet done before!"
