My stories as a promoter

It is a part-time job whereby I will share my experience through my point of view on what I have gone through. Below are the 4 things you might experience in a day for doing the job as a promoter:

  • Such a mixed feeling in a day

As a promoter, you can experience various feeling in just a day. Feeling rejected and ignored by the shopper is a normal situation where we are going to face. Some shoppers could just ignore, show their hand sign for not approaching them, or maybe complain/scold you. However, don’t take it too personally, as they might have something going on in their life such as: bad things or a problem that they have to concern on that moment or they are in the midst of conversation that they don’t like other people to interrupt on.  But some shoppers they are very friendly and even response to you in the moment. Some of them even thanks to you that you have introduce them a good offer, others might be say thanks to you and smile before the pass by which can make my day too.

Till next time! And do share and comment as I would like to know your opinion toward this!

Next, will be about the 4 skills you can get as a promoter! Stay tuned!

  • Tend to be more polite and show empathy

As you have experienced the job before, I become more aware of those who have the almost same job description with me, such as: cleaning service or maybe outlet shopkeeper. Therefore, next time when you see there are people who distribute the flyers or maybe promote something, I will tend to stop and listen for a while (*unless I am in rush). After that, I will say politely that I am not interested with that followed with thanks them for their effort and bless them luck. I believe everyone would like to gain this kind of basic attitude and so am I.

  • People tend to avoid us

They are quite afraid on us as there are many reasons. They might perceive us as a seller or even a fraudulent and they afraid to get into trouble. Therefore, the moment when we approach them we need to approach in front of them but not too close (don’t violate their personal space) and politely ask them about the product itself.  Sometimes body language is very useful in this case, as most of them will indicate whether they are approachable through hand sign, eye contact or even face expression.

  • Tend to observe more

People are doing their public affection, matured teenager, young till adult couple, family having their holiday or many friends gathering from all over the states in Malaysia. I realized the things I won’t even notice/bother at others. What cloth they are wearing, pants, accessories and it becomes very obvious, especially when I am the person who is standing in the middle of the shopping mall who is passing by around. As you have nothing to do, except to keep alert on the surrounding and the shoppers who is passer-by, so that you won’t missed out any of it.
