UN DAy Celebration: 70th birthday 

It started with the speech of re-owned speaker series by the Founding President of IDEAS, YAM Tunku Zain Al-Abidin Ibni Tuanku Muhriz. After the inspiring speech, it made me realized that how shallow my knowledge about the international organization body, such as: UNICEF, UNISA, IMF, etc. I realized that how much I didn’t care on the world organization that has put its effort in making a change toward a better world in tackling the intense world issue.

The first speaker is YBhg Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir who has named as the UN Person of the Year 2010 and partake in AIDS/HIV bodies of Asia Pacific and advocacy of the justice and equality for Muslim Women as stated in her pervious track record.

Secondly, is Mr. Stevens Chan Kum Fai, whereby he has lost his vision in 2007 and has brought his life into drastic level. His faith in stopping and preventing the unnecessary blind has develop into the foundation of Saves Ones Sight Missions Bhd and Glaucoma Society..

In the conjunction of UN Day 70th Birthday celebration, Taylor’s University has decided to conduct its global conference. As the opening performance, there is a flag exhibition where all the flag has been carried out one by one to the stage. Every country represent by Taylor’s University student where they will carry their own national flag, so that it enhance the globalized atmosphere within the conference hall.

FORUM SERIES: MALAYSIA HUMAN RIGHT 

Speaker from 2 different background of life and has fight for different issues at the same time in Malaysia.

Marina Mahathir as the position of member of board for the Sister in Islam has many initiatives that is planned forward for the future execution. Activities as their certain published book has been banned for sold after 2 years of circulation. Not only that, her organization also being banned in Selangor location due to some reason.  

In different context, Mr.Steven has concern about the blind people education sustainability. As what he knows that the current education only provided their education until secondary schooling, not yet tertiary level. Therefore, an improvement is needed. Lastly, the ability of a standard teacher to teach the blind people properly, as in fact a support from government in terms of training is needed. This is because we cannot expect blinded teacher to teach blinded student. .

Marina Mahathir has a concern on issues that has been bothered women in Malaysia. As example, high rise of a single mother family where this issue is very serious. They need a support from the government in ter. Meanwhile, the annual national budget allocation toward the women field is not enough to support them. At the same time, she feel sad toward the reality on the number of woman that participate in the politic field. She hopes that in future that more women is being empowered and encouraged in building the country. She feel that sharing the power is needed between both gender as for the balance and unbiased view.

Mr. Steven who is the co-founder of Glaucoma Society where he personally has a disabled on his eye-sight. With companion of his guide dog, he has gain the ability to walk independently, but at the same time being discriminated by others. He has a difficulties to walk into the mall or take public transport or taxi. In terms of the funding, fortunately he has few other disabled people in helping them build up its foundation.

THEIR CHALLENGES 

Behind every cause, there will be always a challenges that is necessary to be faced.

CONCERN

“Sharing doesn’t make someone lose one of their part, but it enrich through complementing each other weakness through each other strength.”

“Are you blind?” Nowadays most of the people is not blind in their vision, but morally blind.

 “One blinded people has no power, but yet different if hundreds of them has stand together for the
