REFLECTION On SELF-ESTEEM
with Body Shop Representative !
"Just acknowledge it, Everyone is different and Unique! "
On 28 April in Personal Development Lecture Class, we were having an external speaker from the body shop company to talk about one of their company’s values which is activating self-esteem. In beginning, we are discussing about the meaning of self-esteem.
In general, it defines as the way we think and see about ourselves. Actually, it is as same as my perception which is how confident and satisfy we are as being ourselves.
After that, it was continuing by asking participant on who have activated their self-esteem and what reasons we need to activating our self-esteem. Basically, I have never asked myself this question before, but as long as I have attended the seminar I got the answer. It was clarified that nowadays youth are shy and afraid to express themselves andtheir opinion freely and publicly is because of they are feared being judge by others.
As example, I can be counted as one of the youth that are shy and not brave enough to share my opinion because of the concerning on how others might think about me/ will judge on me. Furthermore, I always compare myself to others and no long after that it becomes a habit for me, then it keep remind me that I am not good enough and I need to be like them. I think to overcome with my problem I need to activate my self-esteem whereby I can realize that every people are unique and have its own ability, so there is no point for me to keep blaming and comparing myself with others. At the same time, I can be more confident and I can be brave to be the real me without afraid being judge. Based on my sharing, I can say it is important for me to activate self-esteem now.
Overall, as the lecture session had ended, I was encouraged myself to change and started to activate my self-esteem for a better life, especially a healthy mindset is needed in future. Keep positive and be yourself is the value that I keep remind myself. And for sure, it is the time for me to appreciate and love myself more than ever before.
